Book Review #1

Happy Friday the 13th! Today I decided to post my first book review! If you didn’t know, I’m a major book nerd. I love reading and disappearing into fictional worlds for hours on end. Another fun fact about me is that I’m a scary fast reader. Like finish a book in under 2 hours kind of fast. This means that I’m able to read a lot of books over a short period of time. So, for this review I’ll be talking about 4 different books that I read in a week and I’ll be rating them out of 5 (5 being great). Some were winners and some were…not. But, one of those books is actually one of my new favourites! Without further ado, please enjoy this short book review post.

The Hazel Wood (2/5)

After reading the summary for this book I had high hopes. I was expecting a cute romance between two characters and some cool fairy-tale aspects. Boy was I wrong. This book is wayyy darker than I was expecting like it has a strong mystery aspect to it and the fictional world/fairy-tale stuff was also pretty dark. The story itself isn’t bad at all, it’s just not what I was expecting and wanting from it at the time I read it.

If you’re into dark fairy-tales then you might like this book, but if you want something cute and sweet stay away!

If I’m Being Honest (5/5)

Loved it! I read another book by the same author and it’s also one of my favourites so I had an inkling that I’d like this one. I sorta related to the main character, as I’m also a little too honest at times, so it was great seeing her develop throughout the story. Plus, there’s a super cute love story component and I’m a sucker for those. If you love cute teen books then you’ll like If I’m Being Honest!

Starcrossed (2/5) (not pictured)

Another book that I had high hopes for. I’m not even going to lie to you guys…I couldn’t even finish this book. Ouf..that hurt to say. I almost never stop reading a book or never finish it. But the characters and plot just weren’t doing it for me. I was really hoping the Greek mythology aspect of this book would be cool since I love Greek mythology. But it just didn’t hit the mark for me.

I personally wouldn’t recommend this book but I’m sure there’s someone out there who likes it.

Meet Cute (5/5)

Yes yes yes yes yes. I LOVE this book!!! It has quickly become one of my favourites. This book is a compilation of a bunch of super cute short stories by different authors. Basically each chapter is a new story – well a new meet cute. Meet cutes are one of my favourite things and I love that this book is just a compilation of meet cutes. The characters are all so well written and diverse, which I really enjoyed. This book totally appeals to my inner hopeless romantic and I 100% recommend it.

And that’s it! I’ll be posting another book review in October once I figure out which books I want to read next and write about. Hope you all have a great week.

Stay rosy,

xo
